RADIO TOWER
OUM KALTHOUM
For a 4 day radio broadcasting in Brutus about Art in Rotterdam I made these mixed media posters with ‘Radio’ as a theme.
Radio and the Arab World brought me back to the most famous person during these era’s. In Egypt the world stayed silenced on every first Thursday of the month that started from 1934 till 1961. Everybody was in front of the radio listening to the concert of Oum Kalthoum.

I related the theme In Brutus to the Arab World and my association with it brought me back to the 60/70-ies when we had huge radio towers all over the world. While radio towers nowadays are of a dying kind because of the digital revolution in every area. But back then all radio stations had huge or very strong towers to broadcast.
